This \"Jazz Master\" guitar (no apparent hommage to Fender intended!) is the work of the man generally considered to be the 20th century's finest individual luthier, James D'Aquisto. While D'Aquisto created a number of unique designs, this \"chambered solid-body\" is one of his rarer creations and a very special guitar. The tone is somewhere between a solid-body and a thin hollow body and is uncommomly rich and complex. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe two T.W. Doyle humbucking pickups were fitted to this guitar not long after completion, and the photograph of James D'Aquisto with this instrument shows him handling the guitar after these were installed. The overall feel of the instrument is extremely sleek and luxurious and we would have to rate this as one of the best playing guitars we have ever seen from any era.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOverall length is 41 1\/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 14 in. (35.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3\/16 in. (3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1\/4 in. (641 mm.). \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eVery fine overall condition; some fittings appear to have been reworked soon after completion by the maker including the tuners, pickup installation, and pickguard, but there is very little playwear and no repairs.
