This is a fairly deluxe 12-fret vintage style Dreadnought, with the one unusual feature of a narrower 1 11\/16 nut width typically used on the 14-fret versions. The back and sides are Madagascar rosewood and the top Italian Alpine spruce with scalloped braces. The top is bordered in the traditional herringbone with a tortoise pattern pickguard and an aging toner finish. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe neck is mahogany with an unbound ebony fingerboard with 1930s-style snowflake inlay. The guitar is fitted with an adjustable truss rod. The slotted headstock is faced with Madagascar rosewood and fitted with gold-plated Grover pre-war style tuners. This is a truly superb guitar, with a huge sound that rivals most any D-style instrument old or new. A testament to Martin's continued ability to craft exceptional traditional-styled guitars, and a wonderful instrument to play.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eOverall length is 40 1\/4 in. (102.2 cm.), 15 5\/8 in. (39.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7\/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1\/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11\/16 in. (43 mm.). \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis is a very clean guitar showing some light signs of play wear but no major damage or repair. There are a some small finish dings and dents in the back of the neck, most probably related to capo use. The top has virtually no wear, the back and sides a few small dings and scuffs. The frets show light wear in the lower positions. A strap button has been added to the treble side of heel. This is a fantastic-sounding and playing guitar; one of the nicest-sounding modern Martins we have had and a splendid example of the still-underappreciated 12-fret Dreadnought format.
