Martin D-18S Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1971), made in Nazareth, PA, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

These fairly rare 12-fret Martin Dreadnoughts are often underappreciated. With a big, booming sound and wide neck, these are great old-time guitars and we think they are often tonally more muscular than their 14-fret brethren. This 1971 D-18S plays and sounds fantastic, with a lot of depth for a mahogany guitar. Only 251 of this model were made in 1971, compared with over five thousand (!) 14-fret D-18's, so when we say "comparatively rare", it's not an exaggeration. This is a great-playing guitar with a very powerful voice.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 15 9/16 in. (39.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 5 in. (12.7 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 7/8 in. (48 mm.).

Appears all original, except Grover tuners replaced long ago with Schallers; bridge neatly reglued. Very little play wear. An especially nice example. Excellent Condition.
C. F.
