Martin 2-15 Model Carved Top Mandolin (1958), made in Nazareth, PA, sunburst top, shaded maple back and sides finish, flame maple back, sides and neck, spruce top, ebony fingerboard, original black soft shell case.

A nice example of a 1950's Martin carved top mandolin, a very much overlooked instrument. Martin had built several styles of carved mandolin starting in 1930, but by the 1950's only the 2-15 remained. These have a more delicate tone than a typical Gibson but are quite useful for a number of musical styles. A very good-playing and sounding mandolin with its own character.

Overall length is 26 1/4 in. (66.7 cm.), 10 1/4 in. (26 cm.) width, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 13 3/4 in. (349 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/8 in. (29 mm.).

Very clean overall; one spot of heavy scuffing from case rub to the lower bout, but very little play/handling wear. Excellent + Condition.
C. F.
