Martin 0-15 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1940), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 76234, natural mahogany re- finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original black chipboard case.

A great-playing prewar all-mahogany 0-15. This guitar was built during the very brief period when Martin experimented with tortoise shell plastic peghead overlays, and sports a particularly attractive example of that rare feature. This small mahogany guitar has a surprisingly loud voice, and sounds great finger- or flatpicked. While this was the least expensive Martin guitar in 1940, listing for $25.00, it still is built to the expected Martin standard of quality.

Overall length is 38 5/8 in. (98.1 cm.), 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). A nice old pre-war Martin; this guitar has an old amateur refin (that's the bad news) but the good news is it's very thin and the guitar sounds excellent. Nicely original other than the finish, a recent neckset makes this a very fine player. Overall Very Good + Condition.
C. F.
