Bacon Mandolin Banjo, c. 1922, made in Groton CT, natural varnish finish, laminated maple rim and neck, original black hard shell case.
Overall length is 23 1/2 in. (59.7 cm.), 10 in. (25.4 cm.) diameter head, and 3 in. (7.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.).
Clean, overall finish nice. One large repaired chip on the rear headstock laminate; some smaller chips to the rim bottom and internal resonator disc edges. A number of the small metal caps on the tone ring holes through the rim are damaged, the result of a previous ill-considered plastic head mounting operation. Tailpiece cover missing, otherwise complete and a good player.
Currently set up with a proper skin head. Has a bright sound. An excellent jug or string band instrument. Includes a nice OHSC. Overall Very Good + Condition.
