Fender Champ-Amp 5F1 Model Tube Amplifier (1960), made in Fullerton, California, serial # C-13657, tweed fabric covering finish.
Height is 12 in. (30.5 cm.), 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm.) width, and 8 in. (20.3 cm.) deep.
This nicely worn-in tweed Champ has some staining, scuffing, and fraying to the tweed (several corners are worn through), but overall is still sharp-looking. It looks like there was a nameplate or somesuch mounted on the top of the cabinet that is long gone, leaving some uneven fade and filled pinholes. The faceplate has only a bit of corrosion and some of the stenciling is faded down just around the volume control, which has been turned a lot!
The 1959-60 Champ is often considered one of the greatest small amps ever, and this early 1960 example certainly bears that out. The speaker is original, the tubes are older US make, and even the leather handle is still intact. Internally there has been a bit of cap work (the filter caps are all replaced) and a new 3-prong cord added; the result is a fantastic sound. These 5F1 Champs have a bit more muscle and headroom than the earlier versions, while still retaining the singing distortion these are loved for when cranked. Excellent - Condition.
