Fender Musicmaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1959), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 35859, desert sand lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck, original tan tolex hard shell case.
A super clean, good-playing, and fairly early example of Fender's first student guitar: the unassuming but very functional Musicmaster. Built primarily to expand the company's hold on the teaching studio/young student market, these guitars were many players' first electric, far more playable than most competitors and stylish in an understated way. The Musicmaster features a narrow, short-scale maple neck and a single pickup with volume and tone controls.
This particular guitar dates to 1959 with a neck dated to March that year. The neat, comfortable little neck has the classic Fender round-backed profile, a feature recently re-introduced at that time after a dalliance with V-profines in 1957-8. The original anodized metal pickguard still looks amazingly sharp! This lovely little guitar has not been stripped of its more valuable parts (knobs, neckplate, pots, and wiring) as so many have! A neat package; includes original tan case, making for a very cool and relatively affordable 1950s Fender guitar.
Overall length is 37 5/8 in. (95.6 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 1/2 in. (572 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).
Very clean overall with just some dents in the finish and very light wear. Plays and sounds excellent. Includes the original HSC with the handle replaced with a piece of tooled leather! Excellent Condition.
