Gibson SJ-200 Koa Custom Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (2014), made in Bozeman, Montana, serial # 13024054, natural lacquer finish, koa back and sides, sitka spruce top, original black tolex hard shell case.
This lovely limited edition SJ-200 is a product of Gibson's Custom shop and an interesting and extremely fancy variation on Gibson's classic "Super Jumbo" flat top. The SJ-200 Koa Custom features quite a bit of hand work including lavish abalone inlay around the top, back and soundhole, with abalone crown fingerboard markers and Gibson script logo. The back and sides are solid highly figured koa with a radiused body design for excellent projection and clarity. The neck is laminated flamed maple, two-piece with a comfortable round profile and an old-style dovetail body joint secured with hide glue. The top is solid sitka spruce with traditional scalloped x-bracing, topped with the traditional J-200 engraved and inlaid pickguard. The guitar is sprayed with a special vintage-style nitrocellulose lacquer, lighter and more tonally transparent than most modern finishes. The tuners are Gold Grover Imperials in the pre-war pattern, a classic deco touch rarely seen on modern instruments. The SJ-200 Koa Custom is a showpiece Super Jumbo with a seriously fine sound and exceptional playability. The SJ-200 is always a "statement" instrument and this one is an exceptionally dramatic example, and one of the best modern Gibson instruments we have seen.
Overall length is 42 in. (106.7 cm.), 16 7/8 in. (42.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 13/16 in. (12.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This guitar shows only very light handling wear, and very little sign of much use time at all. Includes the original case and paperwork including COA. Near Mint Condition.
