Dobro Style 27 Squareneck Model Resophonic Guitar, c. 1937, made in Chicago, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated mahogany body. Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black chipboard case.
Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 14 1/8 in. (35.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
This is a great-sounding original later 1930s Dobro squareneck, with some light wear but nothing too serious. The finish shows dings, dents, and scuffs but no large areas of loss, and the plating is a bit scuffed but intact. The tuners are older Klusons but may not be original, and it looks like small bushings were once on the solid headstock that are there no more. Everything else appears original. The sound is pure pre-war sweetness with that ol' Brother Oswald twang, and the cool factor is enhanced by a period palm tree decal on the headstock that partially covers the "Dobro" decal. A neat 1930s slide machine ready to play "Wreck on the Highway" at the Opry anytime! Excellent - Condition.
