Fender Deluxe Model Tube Amplifier (1951), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 2939, tweed fabric covering finish.
Height is 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.), 18 in. (45.7 cm.) width, and 7 1/2 in. (19 cm.) deep.
This very early TV-front Deluxe is simply stunningly clean, both externally and under the hood. The old-style tweed covering is superbly crisp and very clean, not "smoked" like most and shows only some VERY light wear. The faceplate is also super clean with unsullied plating and very crisp graphics. Even the somewhat fragile original leather handle is still completely intact. Internally the amp is unaltered with all original components.
This Deluxe was wired up by Lupe (she seems to have been queen of the Deluxes this year -- her masking tape name tag is present inside many of these chassis) with a visible pot date of the 41st week of 1950. The original Jensen speaker is date coded to the 50th week of 1950, so likely this one was assembled and sold in early '51. It must have seen very little use since, unlike the thousands of its brethren that worked in recording studios and the club and roadhouse stages since 1951.
While we normally service all amplifiers for use, this nearly 70 year old amp is COMPLETELY original and untouched so we have elected to leave it that way as this is becoming extremely rare now well into the 21st century. As such it is offered in AS-IS condition, not because of any damage or perceived flaw but due to its age and untouched state. If the amplifier is to be used more than casually we would recommend it be professionally serviced to the level desired; we would be happy to do so upon sale. As the amp is now we cannot guarantee continued functionality of the many components that are decades past their expiration dates, but this is a museum-quality unaltered example so some would prefer to keep it that way. This is a truly superb example of this all-time classic amp, quite the nicest we have ever seen. Original Artifact. Unrestored Condition.
