Fender Precision Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1975), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 635734, black finish, alder body, maple neck, original black tolex hard shell case.

This is a very nice example of a mid-'70s Fender Precision, in the eye-catching "tuxedo" look with a black finished body and white pickguard. At under 8 1/2 pounds, this is a much lighter bass than most '75s we have seen and has a nice resonant and growly tone.

The neck heel has no date stamp (not unusual for this period), but does carry the J.Torres inspection ink stamp, while the pots and pickup coils are dated to 1975. The features are typical for this year, with the plastic finger rest now located over the strings, the poly-finished maple neck with a 1 5/8" nut, and the large black Fender logo decal, but still with the older '60s-style white pickguard.

Plays and sounds great; an excellent gigging and recording bass and more proof that, even in the depths of the CBS-Fender era, the Precision Bass was a design that was almost foolproof!

Overall length is 46 in. (116.8 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

This is a nice all-original bass, played but not abused. There are some dings to the body edges and a spot worn down through the top coat in the armwear area, but overall the finish is in very good shape. The frets are hardly worn and the fingerboard does not show much wear, just a couple of dinks on the treble side, and there is one chip to the headstock face.

There is one typical spot cracked off missing from the pickguard just at the bottom corner by the jack, but the screw still holds it in place securely. All finish and hardware remain original and complete except the chrome center handrest is missing. One of the coolest mid-'70s Precisions we have had. Great-looking and light; handy and fun to play! Excellent - Condition.
