Gibson RB-12 Top Tension Model 5 String Resonator Banjo (1996), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural lacquer finish, walnut resonator and neck, laminated maple rim, rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.
Overall length is 38 1/4 in. (97.2 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter head, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/2 in. (673 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). Very nice overall with some minor play wear and some light corrosion to the nickel plating from exposure to moisture. The tailpiece is not the original Gibson issue and there are several railroad spikes added to the fingerboard, all else is original. This is a very nice rendition from Gibson's top-notch 1990's banjo shop of the extremely rare pre-WWII top-tension style 12 banjo, with a radiused fingerboard and a bright but well-modulated and powerful sound. A very fine and somewhat unique Bluegrass banjo. Overall Excellent - Condition.
