Fender Jaguar Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1967), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 209767, Candy Apple Red lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
A nice early-CBS period Jaguar, all original and in very nice shape. The guitar shows typical 1967 features: a bound fingerboard with block inlay and bright Candy Apple Red finish with a matching headstock adorned with Fender's "transition" logo. The Jaguar remains an under-appreciated guitar with several interesting features. The scale length is shorter than other professional Fender guitars and the Strat-like pickups are optimized for clarity and crispness, factors that led to the Jaguar losing popularity in the late '60s as twang went out and distortion and crunch came in! Nevertheless the Jaguar was the top-of-the line 1960s Fender and always a very high quality guitar -- in this finish especially is a very sharp looker as well with a definite vibe!
Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 13 3/4 in. (34.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).
All original (except for a repro trem arm) with some light wear. There is very little fade to the finish which still gleams like a California Hot Rod at Deadman's Curve. Overall the lacquer has some small chips and dings, with light checking and some light scuffing to the chrome. The most visible defect is the "F" in the Fender logo and the "JA" in Jaguar have chipped off the headstock decal. The frets and fingerboard have some wear but the guitar remains very playable. A cool early CBS Jag, with a nice OHSC. Excellent - Condition.
