Fender Telecaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Fullerton, California, Blonde lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

This lovely Telecaster was built just over a year after Fender became CBS/Fender, and is still a wonderful instrument in the grand Leo tradition. The neck date is March 1966 and the pots date to the 17th week of that year. The evolving features of the Telecaster in this specific era include a 3-ply laminated white plastic pickguard (replacing the earlier white single-layer and subsequent green nitro versions) with the old-style thin blonde lacquer finish, a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dots, a new in 1966 "transition" logo decal and the old-style Kluson tuners. This Tele has a super light ash body that handles perfectly and resonates for days, and a very comfortable neck with the new-for-1966 larger fretwire. A very cool mid-60's Telecaster, all original but with enough wear to play without fear!

Overall length is 37 3/4 in. (95.9 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/8 in. (4.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Very fine all-original condition; the finish shows some moderate wear especially on the edges (typical for Teles) but nothing out of the usual. This guitar has survived since 1966 with no abuse, modifications or repair. The thin lacquer fnish is only lightly worn on the back of the neck and it feels exceptionally nice. There are small chips and dings and some checking and very minor yellowing to the body finish but no major areas of damage. The guitar is completely unaltered with all original finish and hardware; the pickups and pots are untouched and still wired to the original pre-1967 spec., with the bass capacitor in the front position. The bridge unit and saddles have some corrosion, but nothing major. The frets have been slightly crowned down but have plenty of meat left. Includes the original no-tail logo black case which is a bit battered but fully functional. A really cool and fairly rare early CBS Tele; a great player with a strong vibe! Excellent - Condition.
