Vega FW-5 Folk Wonder Model 5 String Banjo (1970's), made in Nazareth, PA, mahogany stain finish, laminated maple rim and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original black chipboard case.

This is a "Martin Era" Vega Folk Wonder banjo, made in the period when the previously Boston-based company had been moved to Nazareth as a subsidiary of C. F. Martin & Co. This model is a basic but effective Vega openback, quite suitable for old time and frailing styles with a simple "Little Wonder" tone ring and plain bound, dot inlaid fingerboard. This is a very practical banjo with "modern" features like a truss rod and dual coordinator rods, but still part of the American Vega (and Martin) tradition.

Overall length is 37 3/4 in. (95.9 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter head, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 27 in. (686 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). Very nice original condition; an undisturbed classic openback Vega, complete down to the original "Vegalon" head and with only very minor wear anywhere. A nice playing and sounding banjo, an excellent frailer complete with the original SSC. Overall Excellent + Condition.
