Gibson Style A Model Carved Top Mandolin (1918), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 45277, natural varnish finish, birch back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard.
Overall length is 26 1/4 in. (66.7 cm.), 10 1/4 in. (26 cm.) width, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). Well-played overall but all original including the tuners, bridge, tailpiece cover and even the oft-missing pickguard and clamp. There is a lot of wear to the back of the neck but the top finish is actually relatively clean. Some typical back seam shrinkage repairs but no cracks. Newly refretted with correct style wire, an excellent playing and sounding mandolin just a few years away from its centennial! Very Good + Condition.
