Rickenbacker Model 335 Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Los Angeles, California, serial # FK-4185, mapleglo finish, maple body, maple and walnut neck with padauk fingerboard, original silver hard shell case.

Certainly one of the most recognizable of the classic 1960's guitars, the Rickenbacker 300 series of thin hollowbody guitars has returned to favor again and again as new generations discover its bright, well defined sound and utterly distinctive look and feel. This is a very fine example of a natural-finish ("Mapleglo") Model 335 from Rickenbacker's peak year of 1966. The bulk of the 330 series guitars built in that (or any) year were finished in the company's familiar red sunburst (Fireglo") with only a relatively small proportion in this natural maple livery.

The single most famous 330 series Rickenbacker would of course be John Lennon's 1964 Model 325, used during the Beatles period of worldwide fame in 1964-5. Following the Beatles' lead, many young musicians in the 1964-68 era worldwide chose Rickenbacker guitars, making them an enduring icon of the period. This particular guitar's Model 335 designation refers to the provision of two pickups and vibrato; the more common model 330 has the solid "R" shaped tailpiece, while the 345 carries a third pickup. Despite sometimes being saddled with a "1960's cliché' image, the 335 is a more versatile guitar than many realize, a great sounding and very classy instrument for both retro and modern sounds!

Overall length is 39 1/2 in. (100.3 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). All original, no repairs or alterations just some light play wear. There is a very small maple shrinkage crack coming off the front end of the soundhole, not really an issue but visible. Overall a great playing and sounding 1960's Rickenbacker complete with the original silver case. Excellent Condition.
