Melody Plus Solid Body Electric Guitar, c. 1965, made in Japan, sunburst finish, Nato wood body, Luan mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard.

One of the more interesting '60's "guitar boom" creations we have seen recently! This appears to be a Japanese guitar attempting to look Italian, or some semblance thereof. With 4 pickups that look like robot visors, a trem arm that looks like a piece of plumbing hardware, a translucent amber pearloid pickguard and wicked sculpted headstock this is a pretty unique-looking guitar. The neck is big and chunky, the frets better than average for the period and with a versatile 4-way switching system it has some pretty cool pickup combinations available. The "Melody Plus" is a fairly generic jobber brand-the guitar is definitely Japanese made but does not resemble most known Teisco variants. Wherever it hails from, a very cool and surprisingly useful guitar!

Length is 39 7/8 in. (101.3 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) width, and 1 in. (2.5 cm.) deep. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). All original with just minor wear and a couple of chips; plays very well (for a period Japanese instrument) with some cool sounds. Excellent - Condition.
