Fender Mustang Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1972), made in Fullerton, California, sunburst polyester finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original grey hard shell case.
This version of Fender's most popular budget guitar debuted in 1972, with a standard sunburst finish replacing the metallic-paint-with-racing-stripe "competition" livery that had reigned since 1969. The guitar otherwise remains the same, with the back body contour added in 1969 and all the standard Mustang features: 24" scale neck. Dual pickups with phase switching, the "Dynamic" vibrato and cool "60's pearloid pickguard. This is a particularly nice example with a neck dated Nov 1972 which has a lot of burl figure, most unusual in any Fender, let alone a Mustang! An early '70's guitar still sporting a '60's cool factor, one of the nicer ones we have had.
Overall length is 39 5/8 in. (100.6 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). 100% original, clean overall with a little wear to the frets and fingerboard in the lower positions, and a few dings and scuffs. Plays and sounds great, a lovely example complete with the still 60's styled OHC Excellent Condition.
