Fender Telecaster Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1965), made in Fullerton, California, serial # L69698, Blonde lacquer finish, ash body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
This lovely Telecaster was built just as Fender began to turn into CBS/Fender, and still a wonderful instrument in the grand Leo tradition. The evolving features of this specific era include a laminated white plastic pickguard (replacing the earlier white single-layer and subsequent green nitro versions) and thin rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dots. Older style features include the thin blonde lacquer finish, old "Spaghetti" logo decal and Kluson tuners. This Tele has a light ash body that handles perfectly, and a very comfortable neck that plays effortlessly with the original small frets.
Overall length is 38 7/8 in. (98.7 cm.), 12 13/16 in. (32.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Very fine overall; some use but no serious abuse, modifications or repair. The thin lacquer fnish worn on the back of the neck (beautifully so, we might add!) and it feels exceptionally nice. There are small chips and dings and some yellowing to the body finish but no major areas of damage. The only alteration is one small filled hole in the headstock face from an extra string tree, there is some light staining to the grain on the headstock back from ancient tuner oiling efforts. Pickguard is shrunken somewhat but still intact with no broken corners or major pull-up. All original finish and hardware; pickups still wired to the original pre-1967 spec. Appears to have been played mostly with the original "ashtray" cover on; the bridge and saddles are super clean with no rust but the cover (still intact) has some corrosion, matching the neck pickup cover. Original no-logo black case is a bit battered but functional. A really cool and fairly rare (very) early CBS era Tele; a great player with a strong vibe! Excellent Condition.
