Gibson SG Special Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1968), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 517481, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, brown hard shell case.

This is a super nice late '60's SG Special, very clean even including the original sales receipt from January 1969. An unusual feature is the guitar carries individual Kluson Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons, usually fitted to SG Standards, instead of the plainer strip tuners specified on Specials. This may have been an "accidental" upgrade at the factory due to parts shortages-these tuners are definitely original to the guitar and no other footprint is evident.

At any rate this is a particularly nice example, otherwise stock with 2 adjustable P-90 pickup, clean dark cherry finish and chrome hardware and no modifications. Includes a 1990's Gibson deluxe hardshell case. Anyone who has seen live footage of the Who in the late '60's knows what these ultra light and responsive SG Specials are capable of! One of the classic Rock guitars of that or any era, more versatile than many think with a "special" sound unto themselves!

Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 19 in. (48.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/16 in. (3.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). Superb condition, only a few tiny chips and dings and some light buckle wear to the back; Finish is deep red with comparatively little fade. Very good neck angle, this is an excellent player and a very well preserved example! Excellent + Condition.
