Bacon Professional FF Model Mandolin Banjo, c. 1918, made in Groton CT, brown varnish finish, laminated maple rim, mahogany neck with ebonized fingerboard, original black hard shell case.
Overall length is 24 in. (61 cm.), 10 1/4 in. (26 cm.) diameter head, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). A very nice example overall, not a lot of wear, all original hardware except tailpiece nut. Currently set up with a plastic head and mandolin-style bridge. Some finish wear at the back of the neck near the headstock and several small repaired cracks to the back of the internal resonator. Missing a very small chunk of marquetry from the rim near the neck heel. Plays and sounds excellent. Generally Excellent Condition.
