Guild Starfire IV Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1968), made in Hoboken, cherry lacquer re- finish, laminated mahogany body; laminated mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

The Starfire series has been Guild's most consistently successful electric guitar line since its inception in the early 1960's. This Starfire IV from 1968 is a double cutaway semi-hollow instrument with the neck jount moved slightly farther out from the body compared to earlier '60's models. The pickups are the typical 1960's style Guild humbucking pickups, similar to but a bit brighter and crisper than the Gbson equivalent. Like the Gibson ES 335 series, the Starfire IV has a solid block running through the center of the instrument, cutting down on feedback and giving the guitar a tighter tone. This type of Starfire is a very versatile guitar and has been a perennial favorite among players of many styles, particularly well thought of as an electric blues instrument. This example has been refinished some time ago but not otherwise altered, and for a 40+ year old guitar looks and feels practically new.

Overall length is 42 in. (106.7 cm.), 16 3/8 in. (41.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Complete refinish in a shaded cherry lacquer; perfectly repaired headstock crack through the volute area (under the finish). All original hardware except replaced bridge (70's Tune-O-Matic) and switch tip; original pickups and electronics. Plays and sounds very well, a good bargain in a gigging '60's vintage Starfire. Excellent Condition.
