Bacon Professional Model 5 String Banjo, c. 1920, made in Groton CT, natural varnish finish, laminated maple rim and neck, gig bag case.
An original internal-resonator Bacon rim and dowel stick with a heavily re-worked laminated curly maple 5-string neck with elaborate inlay and a carved heel. Very good-sounding with the typically deep and resonant tone of this model.
Overall length is 37 1/2 in. (95.2 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter of rim, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/2 in. (673 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/16 in. (33 mm.).
Rim overfinished in natural; some wear to older parts, but overall a very clean banjo. Excellent Condition.
