Fender Duo-Sonic II Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Fullerton, California, serial # 145833, blue lacquer finish, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, period hard shell case.
This lovely blue Duo-Sonic II was made about two years after guitar's redesign with components interchangeable with the new Mustang in mid-1964. This guitar has the longer of the two scale lengths offered, 24" as opposed to the more common 22 1/2" found on many Duo-Sonics and Musicmaster, resulting in a better-playing guitar for most applications. The vibrant Sonic blue finish is a lovely sight to behold; by 1966 the budget guitars did not receive a clear lacquer overcoat on the body, a cost-cutting step at the time but it results in better color preservation 40+ years later! Something of a forgotten model, the Duo-Sonic with its non-trem body-mounted bridge is a solider-feeling instrument to the player than the tremolo-equipped Mustang it otherwise resembles. The switches offer on/off and in/out of phase pickup options, identical to the more familiar Mustang. A nicely preserved example and a fine playing light, handy little guitar.
Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.). 100% original and super clean with only some very tiny finish dings. Excellent playing, excellent sounding, just a superb example. Excellent + Condition.
