Gretsch Silver Jet Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1955), made in Brooklyn, NY, silver sparkle top, natural back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, original tweed hard shell case.
Simply one of the finest collectible Gretsch guitars on the planet, this 1955 Silver Jet is in fabulous condition and is a remarkable guitar in every way. This is the same guitar pictured on page 97 of the book THE GUITARS OF THE FRED GRETSCH COMPANY by Jay Scott, and comes with a highly erudite letter from the author confirming this.
Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 13 3/8 in. (34 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
Unbelievably, amazingly clean condition; 100% original down to the last screw (well, the strings have been changed!) and as perfect as we ever expect to see a 50+ year old guitar. A few small dings (one on the headstock, a couple on the back) are all that keep this guitar from being described as mint. Includes the original tweed case, with a little fraying on the edges but also extremely fine condition. This has to be one of the finest early Silver Jets still extant. Excellent + Condition.
