Gibson L-1 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1926, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, natural top, dark stained back and sides finish, birch back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck, original black hard shell case.

A very interesting and unusual early example of Gibson's first full-line flat top guitar, the L-1. This instrument is actually built on the carved-back body of the earlier L-1 archtop, and is certainly one of the first flat-topped L-1's ever made.

Overall length is 37 1/2 in. (95.2 cm.), 13 3/4 in. (34.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 1/4 in. (616 mm.). Width of nut is 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.).

Well-played but very original, including finish, tuners, and bridge (subtly taken down). Back has been reglued at some point and there is a lot of pickwear below the strings, but the guitar plays very well and sounds wonderful. Includes original archtop-style OHSC. Very Good + Condition.
