Gibson J-45 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1945, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark stained back and sides finish, mahogany body and neck, spruce top and rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

An absolutely beautiful example of a WWII-era "banner" J-45, one of the most storied of Gibson flattops. These guitars have a reputation as some of the best sounding acoustics in Gibson history, and this one certainly bears that out. Wartime Gibsons can have widely variant features dictated by the materials available; this particular guitar has the happy combination of a mahogany body with a four-piece spruce top and a mahogany neck with the familiar Gibson truss rod installed. The neck is large with a generous round profile but not as huge as many non-trussrod examples, and is extremely playable.

Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).

Splendid original condition overall; finish is beautifully intact and untouched with only light play wear mostly near the soundhole. Bridge has been re-glued, cut down somewhat, and the saddle re-slotted; all very professional work. With no other apparent repairs or damage, this is an exceptionally nice example of this sought-after guitar. Excellent Condition.
