Gibson Super 400 Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1937), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Cremona Brown Sunburst varnish finish, spruce top, figured maple back, sides and neck, ebony fingerboard, brown pigskin hard shell case.
Gibson's swing-era masterpiece. The 1930's Super 400 is one of the great classics of the Deco era and one of the most impressive archtop guitars ever made.
Overall length is 44 in. (111.8 cm.), 18 in. (45.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.).
Extremely well-preserved overall, with only minor play wear and no major modifications. The original pickguard has been notched for a DeArmond pickup and there are unfilled small screwholes on the side of the fingerboard extension where this was mounted. One of the original engraved Grover tuners has been replaced with a period plain example, another has a replaced baseplate. Otherwise, the guitar is a very fine original pre-war Super 400 with the original super-deluxe pigskin case. Excellent Condition.
