Regal Cutaway Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1952), made in Chicago, natural lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, spruce top, laminated mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex original chipboard case.
One of the more interesting and unusual Chicago-made guitars we have ever seen. This is a cutaway flat top with an elevated fingerboard, pin tailpiece and floating adjustable bridge; in other words, it sports many archtop-style features. While it is branded Regal, by this time the original Regal company had been absorbed into the Harmony organization and this is one of the early products of that merger.
This is a historically interesting guitar, perhaps a bit of an evolutionary dead end but an unusual insrtrument from its era. It also plays very well with a bright snappy sound and plenty of volume; a great little ragtime or blues guitar.
Overall length is 38 in. (96.5 cm.), 15 1/4 in. (38.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
Very nice original condition; no major damage or repairs with average light playing wear overall. The original pickguard has shrunk somewhat but is still intact.
Includes a nice original alligator grained chipboard case. Excellent Condition.
