Sovereign Tube Guitar Amplifier, c. 1938, made in Jersey City, NJ, black vinyl covering finish.
A very rare and historically interesting pre-WWII amplifier almost certainly issued by Oscar Schmidt/FIM prior to the Soverign brand being taken over by Harmony of Chicago. Probably the companion piece to a Soverign Electric Hawaiian guitar.
Chassis mounts in bottom rear of cabinet; two inputs with three controls. Electronics 100% original including all tubes. Cord and field coil speaker marked with an "OPERADIO" logo. Replaced handle.
Height is 14 in. (35.6 cm.), 12 7/8 in. (32.7 cm.) width, and 8 in. (20.3 cm.) deep.
Functional if somewhat microphonic, we have elected to not replace any components in this rare amplifier to preserve its originality. The original owner of this amplifier used it with a Rickenbacker Bakelite Spanish Guitar (our stock #519). Excellent Condition.
