Bartel Starwood Tube Amplifier (2019)
Bartel Starwood Model Tube Amplifier (2019), made in Baltimore, MD, serial # S-124-049, two tone vinyl finish.
This Bartel Starwood is a fairly modern appearance in our showroom, but sonically it fits right in! Handbuilt by Mark Bartel, founder of Tone King amplifiers, under his own name in Baltimore, MD. All the amps are handwired on beautifully laid out turret boards and the specially-designed cabinets lovingly handcrafted. This, the 'Starwood' is the middle model of the three currently offered, featuring a dual-6L6 power section, yielding approx. 28 watts into a single 12" Celestion AlNiCo speaker.
The control panel features volume, treble and bass controls, as well as mix and dwell for the onboard spring reverb, and a master volume control. The treble and bass controls are designed to control the midrange response in-tandem; i.e. with both all the way up, once can achieve a classic "scooped" Fender black-panel style clean and a Plexi-like punch with both controls set low. The amp also features an external speaker output switchable for 4, 8 and 16 ohms. Cosmetically this is one of the coolest vintage-styled modern amps we have seen, with a sort of "TV" shaped front grille and a two-tone covering it would not look out of place in a hip Hanna-Barbera show from the late '60s!
Height is 18 in. (45.7 cm.), 22 1/2 in. (57.2 cm.) width, and 11 in. (27.9 cm.) deep.
Cosmetically, the amp is close to near mint condition, with only very light signs of use. The two-tone Tolex is free of any notable blemishes, save for a few very minor spots. The grille cloth is beautifully clean, as is the control panel. The amp comes with its original reverb footswitch. Electrically, the amp is original and unmodified from its original design and has been given a clean bill of health after our standard tech inspection.
This is a "modern" amp for us, but the tone and look are "vintage" enough we still think it's cookin' with gas! Overall Excellent + Condition.
