Mutantum Lesquire Junior Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (2022), made in New York, NY, Tannic Brew finish, pine body, maple neck, black gig bag case.

This funky-but-chic solidbody was built by out friend Elliott Sharp, who dubs it the Mutantum Lesquire Jr. It is built to his own design and we'll let him explain the particulars:

"(This) Lesquire Jr was built in 2022 and has a (tele-style) knotty pine body with "barncaster" stain. This is a tannic brew of coffee and black tea applied to body after which "ebonizer" made from steel wool soaked in white vinegar is rubbed on. It's then finished with handrubbed carnauba wax.

(The instrument) combines characteristics of the Fender Esquire and Gibson Les Paul Jr. The one-piece maple Telecaster style neck has medium frets, the profile is a shallow U. Eldred wiring gives three distinct sonic approaches from a single pickup: Position 1 is the pickup and volume control direct for maximum brightness and attack; Position 2 is the pickup through the volume and tone control for maximum tonal range from dark to bright; Position 3 is the pickup through volume and a capacitor for a cocked-wah mid-cut - great for vocal-sounding blues leads."

"The pickup is an anomaly, a mini-humbucker with a Hofner-style staple top cover but a brass baseplate reading Seymour Duncan. It might be a custom wound PU from Duncan or it might be a staple cover soldered to a Duncan mini. In any case, the sound is killer."

All we can add is this is a light, easy handling, great sounding guitar with a real kick to the sound, a cool riff on the "Pinecaster" format.

Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/16 in. (3.6 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.)., 6.15 lbs.

This guitar presents as lightly used but with its pre-aged body has a rather timeless look. At the price this is fine playing and great sounding guitar, a little rough at the edges perhaps but we like it that way! A decent gig bag is included.

Elliott adds: "The guitar was used in one live performance with drummer Weasel Walter and bassist Tim Dahl as well as various studio recordings. It can be heard playing the solos on this track from Elliott Sharp's Terraplane album "Century":
