Boss DM-2 Delay Effect (1982)
Boss DM-2 Model Delay Effect (1982), made in Japan, serial # 258600, burgundy enamel finish. There are few pedals more recognizable and universally beloved by guitarists than the Boss line of effects pedals: affordable, produced en masse, and offered in a (now) classic array of bright colors. The DM-2 was Boss' second delay, after the clunkier DM-1; introduced in 1981, this was the first that bore the signature Boss enclosure that was smaller and able to run off 9V batteries as well as a power supply.
The controls are simple but effective: three knobs to control the repeat rate, intensity, and echo. One hallmark of this delay that has made it revered by pedal enthusiasts over the years is its early use of a MN3005 bucket-brigade delay (BBD) chip in the first year or so of production. After 1982, Boss switched to the MN3205 chip, still a desirable component of many early 'analogue' delays and the one present in this particular example.
This simple delay has over the years garnered a bit of a cult status as with several other Boss pedals made in Japan, and it's more recently been reissued by the company as the DM-2W in the Waza Craft collection.
Height is 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.), 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm.) width, and 2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm.) in depth at deepest point., 1 lbs.
The pedal is all original and in an overall clean, gently used condition with a few purely cosmetic blemishes and no functional issues. The small piece of rubber surrounding the latch below the stomp where the pedal is stored has mostly worn away, not affecting the screw or latch at all. The original circuit, including the MN3205 chip, remains unbothered. This pedal comes with the original box. Excellent Condition.
