Gretsch Anniversary G6118T-LTV Hollow Body Electric Guitar (2006)
Gretsch Anniversary G6118T-LTV Model Hollow Body Electric Guitar (2006), made in Japan, serial # JT06105664, two tone green finish, laminated maple body and neck,, original black hard shell case.
This guitar is a very nice 2006 Terada-made Gretsch re-issue of one of the company's late 1950s classics, the PX-6118 Double Anniversary in the most striking two-tone "Smoke Green" finish. It is generally faithful to the original with some minor changes, but most features are close repros of the 1958-9 spec. The bridge is a Gibson-style Tune-O-Matic and the openback tuners are not authentic style but overall this is a nice representation of the original. The 6118 did not come stock originally with a Bigsby vibrato, but so many have had them added over the years it feels almost like a standard feature.
The Anniversary in this form has long been one of Gretsch's most underrated classic models, essentially a Chet Atkins Model 6120 in a different color. Although originally a less expensive instrument Anniversary was structurally the same as the more upscale guitars, in 1958-9 built with the same trestle-bracing as the 6120, faithfully reproduced here. As correct for this time frame it is fitted with two Fliter'tron humbucking pickups. The "Gretsch by Bigsby" vibrato appeared around the same time, so is correct-in-theory anyway.
In the 1960s the 6118 was one of the few surviving deep-body single-cutaway guitars in the Gretsch line, retaining a more 1950s feel. This is a great-playing and fine-sounding re-issue of this classic 1950s Gretsch, now a timeless classic in a stand-out hollowbody 6-string.
Overall length is 42 1/4 in. (107.3 cm.), 15 7/8 in. (40.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 7/16 in. (6.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 1/2 in. (622 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This guitar is all original and very clean with just a very few small scratches and scuffs; overall the guitar presents as very little used with no repairs or alterations. It plays and sounds great, like most of these Terada-made re-issues a very nice re-creation of the original. Excellent Condition.
