Gibson ES-335 DOT Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1982), made in Nashville, TN, serial # 80492528, natural lacquer finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, period black hard shell case.

Overall length is 41 3/8 in. (105.1 cm.), 15 15/16 in. (40.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This very early example of the ES-335 Dot is now 42 years old and appears little played remaining very clean, all original and well-cared for showing only minimal wear overall. The lovely ambered natural finish shows mostly very minor scuffs, and dents. The pickguard has some light scuffing and the nickel plating has some minor corrosion, most noticeable on the bridge and pickup covers. The original frets show hardly any wear.

The ES-335 DOT model is one of Gibson's best regarded 1980s instruments. Introduced in 1981 it is a really superb re-issue of the original 1958-9 ES-335 with a few more modern touches (most notable the Grover Rotomatic tuners many of the originals had added in the 70s). The Tim Shaw pickups (date coded neck: 3291281 and bridge: 3301281) have now become sought after in their own right as one of Gibson's best post-1950s PAF Humbuckers.

This blonde 335 has the classic look of the most desired original variant and carries a cool Dave Edmunds vibe, if you're old enough to remember! It has a great feeling chunky neck and plays and sounds beautifully for just about any style. The case is a 1980s burgundy-plush lined hardshell, not what we usually see with these but the set appears to have been together for a long time. Overall Excellent + Condition.
