Beard E Odyssey 7-string Model Resophonic Guitar (2017), made in Hagerstown, Maryland, serial # 110207, blue lacquer finish, flame maple body and neck with ebony fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.

Beard Dobros are pretty much universally acknowledged as among the finest of their type, regarded by many as a structural (and often sonic) improvement on their Depression-era predecessors. This Model E Odyssey is a serious departure both visually and sonically from the classic Pre-war Dobros with flame maple construction, a single oval soundhole and in this case a 7-string layout. This 7-string is a custom ordered piece, not a standard model.

The 25" scale 2-piece square maple neck has shaped pearl inlay on a bound ebony fretboard. The deep transparent blue finish sets off the chrome hardware and highlights the flame in the maple body. The fluted coverplate has an abstract design looking a bit like sound waves emanating from the center of the cone. The bound headstock is solid instead of slotted, with Waverly Sta-tite style tuners.

This is indeed a wonderful sounding Dobro, both sweet and powerful with a stellar bass response (a design characteristic of the E Odyssey) and sonically the equal, or better, of any vintage model we have heard. While not exactly a traditional instrument, it can handle pretty much any Dobro sound requirement one might have with aplomb!

Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 2 1/4 in. (57 mm.).

This beautiful unique modern 7-string Dobro appears little played over the past 7 years, showing hardly any wear at all. It sounds fantastic with a deep, rich yet still Dobrolically twangy tone. It is complete in its original HSC, definitely a spider-cone guitar for the sonically (and visually) adventurous! Overall Excellent + Condition.
