Diaz Amplifiers Texas Tremodillo Model Tremolo Effect, c. 1994, made in East Stroudsburg, PA. Cesar Diaz, known to many as "The Amp Doctor," was known far and wide for his contributions to the music world through his stewardship of amplifiers. Born in Puerto Rico and raised on the blues, he eventually moved to Texas where he'd befriend the then-unknown Stevie Ray Vaughn and serve as his amp tech. Through the years, he provided his services as a tech (and at times, as a player) to the likes of Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, and more. It's hard to overstate Diaz' contributions to guitar music, and the number of classic records his handiwork touched. Eventually, after serving time as Dylan's guitarist, he stepped away to focus on his own amplifier and pedal creations.
The Texas Tremodillo was for its time an innovatively great Tremolo that still holds up to the day, calling to mind black front Fender tremolo sounds. The controls are simple: rate and dwell, visualized by a pulsing LED. The pedal also features a second stomp switch for foot control of the tremolo's tempo.
This particular example comes with a fun bit of provenance, simply that it was made specially by Diaz to a friend as a partial trade towards a holy grail instrument of his own in 1994. It bears no serial number nor date, but a message from Diaz himself at the time.
Height is 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.), 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm.) width, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at deepest point. This pedal is overall quite clean and original, with minimal playwear. The inside of the pedal is untouched, with the protective foam inside still completely in tact. The pedal was custom build for the customer and lacks a serial number, but boasts a personal message from Diaz to the original owner. The pedal comes in the original box with the included folded catalogue of other Diaz Amplifier products inside. Overall Excellent Condition.
