Gibson Les Paul Standard owned and used by Drew McDowall Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1989), made in Nashville, TN, serial # 81809576, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany body, flame maple top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown tolex hard shell case.

This nicely shaded late '80s cherry sunburst Standard has a unique provenance, as the musician it has long belonged to is not your run-of-the mill Les Paul slinger! Glaswegian electronic trailblazer Drew McDowall grew from punk roots to serve as a member of two institutions in avant-garde and industrial music: Psychic TV throughout the 1980's and Coil in the mid 90's. Though he is known best for architecting soundscapes from a sprawling Eurorack modular system, McDowall has used this Les Paul on dozens of solo and collaborative recordings since he acquired it decades ago. These late 80's humbucking pickups have lent their warmth in conversation with cascades of synthesized ambience and noise.

Overall length is 39 in. (99.1 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

The guitar is lightly worn but overall appears not too heavily used, and original except for the switch tip, added straploks and a metal jack plate. The pickups appear original, the control cavity shows a couple of possible touched up solder joints but all components are correct. There is only minor wear overall and this is an excellent player, for either conventional or unconventional stylings! The original HSC is included, fairly battered but still functional. Overall Excellent - Condition.
