Epiphone Rivoli EBV232 Model Electric Bass Guitar (1964), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, hard shell case.
Thes Epiphone Rivoli Bass is one of the iconic instruments of the 1960's British invasion, played by many of the most successful bands of the era. This authentic 1964 example is actually extremely rare, especially in the US Oddly enough, the Rivoli is not listed for sale in the official Epiphone pricelists from that year, and indeed appears to have been produced almost exclusively for the English distributor Rosetti. Most if not all production went overseas, and these "UK Pattern" basses without the mute or handrest, but with the early wide neck and light sunburst finish almost never surface stateside. Do not confuse with the relatively common 1966-70 Rivoli and EB-2 models-this is the real "invasion" deal and a super find!
Overall length is 44 3/4 in. (113.7 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 30 1/2 in. (775 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.).
Very Clean overall; some small dings and chips but no major wear. All original except for the retaininig ring around the baritone switch. Some loss to the silver paint on the "E" epsilon logo on the pickguard and the volume knob cap is somewhat scratched. Finish is unfaded and the nickle plate is still shiny. Plays extremely well, and sounds like it should! Includes a modern rectangular case. This bass was recently used on stage with Animals' guitarist Hilton Valentine at Bowery Electric on 11-23-2013. Generally Excellent Condition.
