Magnatone Custom 450 Model Tube Amplifier (1961), made in Fullerton, California, brown fabric covering finish.

Height is 23 1/8 in. (58.7 cm.), 18 1/2 in. (47 cm.) width, and 9 in. (22.9 cm.) deep.

This is a decently well-preserved example of this interesting and fairly rare amp, Magnatone's 1961-62 25 watt combo with both reverb and their famous vibrato. The amp presents well with some average wear but only minor alterations. These include a new 3-prong cord and some cap work, including replacement of the large "can" multi-cap. All tubes are vintage US make. The twin speakers (a 12" Oxford and small oval on the side) and major components remain original with 1960 and '61 date codes; the output transformer is the original piece, but looks like it may have been rewound long ago.

Externally the cabinet has many small rips and worn spots, mostly on the edges, in the fairly thin fabric covering. (Magnatone did not use heavy Tolex like Fender did). The grillcloth is in very good shape with no tears. The rear-mounted control plate has some light wear and flaking, but most of the two-tone graphics are nicely well-preserved. The original handle is intact; the knobs are recent cream chicken heads.

Overall, a nice example of one of this great-sounding medium combo amps, excellent for recording and lower volume gigging. The reverb is very lush and sweet and that pitch-shifting vibrato can't be beat! Very Good + Condition.
