Gibson L-48 Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1954), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # X9791-27 (FON), sunburst lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original brown chipboard case.
Overall length is 40 3/8 in. (102.6 cm.), 16 1/8 in. (41 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This is a superbly well preserved, very clean guitar overall. It remains all original with no repairs except the plastic buttons on the original Kluson tuners are replacements. The finish shows only some light wear, mostly scuffs on the back. This guitar is also a very fine player with a surprisingly excellent sound, a lovely example of the 1950's L-48- about as nice as we expect to see guitars from this period these days! Includes the original chipboard case in surprisingly functional shape. Excellent + Condition.
