C. F. Martin Style A Model Flat Back Mandolin (1951), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # A-20491, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown chipboard case.

Overall length is 24 in. (61 cm.), 9 5/8 in. (24.4 cm.) width, and 2 11/16 in. (6.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 13 in. (330 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). This mandolin is superbly well preserved with some light wear to the finish, and very little sings of use. There are several filled dings in the back finish, other than that just some light pick scrapes and tiny dings to the top. Just refretted with original style wire and the fingerboard trued, otherwise all original and complete. This Style plays as well as any we have ever seen, with the bright bouncy tone typical of these flat-back Martin As. A very nice example and excellent old time string-band or recording mandolin. Excellent - Condition.
